Started with Horse Guards - very serious fellows
Then Trafalgar Square
And a phone booth (which smelled really bad but I doubt Bee could operate it)
And front row upstairs on a doubledecker bus
And the Tower of London. Crown Jewels delivered but Torture Museum was disappointment- no iron maiden (bogus!)
Then Harrods food for lunch
Eaten pond side in Hyde Park
And we HAD to go in Top Shop (might have been a bigger deal than Harrods!!!)
Then another Tube ride to Stratford (where the Olympics were held) to take a long, I interesting doubledecker bus ride back into the city center. Top front seats of course!
The bus ends at Blackfriars. We poked into The Black Friar pub just to see it, and upon leaving I hear someone yell "DAVE CHAMBERS!!!" It's my old great friend from High school (and beyond) Pete Kockelman, with his wife & sons. What a fun treat! Bee and I hung out and had a pint and told stories of math and football and bungee and all the fun and crazy stuff we did in the 70s 80s and 90s. Great, smart guy, with a really nice family. Exactly the sort of thing that makes a trip memorable.
