Dave and Bee are headed to Europe for 2 weeks in June/July 2015. We'll visit London, Paris, Munich, Zurich, Milan, and Marseille. (Zurich and Milan are really just connection points for taking the train from Germany to Provence). The endpoint of Marseille (really Le Garde) is to visit with friends who have been living abroad for a few years (https://www.blakeelder.com/). Bee will stay on with them for a short week after Dave leaves, and will travel solo from Marseille to Boston with a connection Dublin (that in itself is a big adventure for a 16 year old who's never flown solo before!)
The idea for trip began last Fall when Bee found out that she wouldn't get to be a counselor at Coniston this summer. Jenny then had the great idea for Jenny & Dave to take Bee to Europe during the 2 weeks that Jack & Annie are at Coniston, sort of in lieu of camp. But then timing was difficult: it's hard to drop J&A off, leave for 12 days, then get back in time to pick them up. Plus Jenny had a hard time leaving her babies at camp and skipping off to another continent.
So Jenny suggested that just Dave take Bee... she (Jenny) wasn't really excited about London or Germany, just really Paris and Marseille, so it made the most sense for her to bow out.
I (Dave) feel a bit guilty touring Europe without her, but only a bit :)
